Who Cares? Scotland is working with our partner Skills Development Scotland (SDS), who are offering 3 different paid summer internship opportunities within their organisation:
- Human Resources Intern – is an opportunity to work within the HR Assistant team sitting in the HR Directorate. During the internship, you will contribute and support all aspects of effective administration of the employment contract throughout the employment lifecycle and through the appropriate application of HR processes and procedures.

- Communications and Marketing Intern – is an opportunity to work in the Communications and Marketing team. During the internship, you will get exposure to and an opportunity to contribute to a mix of colleague engagement and external communications, including branding, events, email marketing, managing our corporate website (sds.co.uk) and their associated social media channels on Twitter and LinkedIn.

- Business Support Intern – is an opportunity within the Business Support team. During the internship, you will learn about the governance of SDS systems and processes, support development and delivery of test scripts and conduct testing and develop training on systems and processes.

You must be available to work from 5 July to 27 August 2021, on a full time or part-time basis. You must have an anticipated pass of your 3rd-year undergraduate degree. Applications are welcomed from all degree disciplines, however, a related subject would be advantageous. These opportunities are open to Care Experienced undergraduates only.

These opportunities are open to 3rd-year undergraduates from a Care Experienced background. These opportunities are within our HR, Business Support and Marketing & Communications departments.
This s an 8-week paid work experience programme. You will be paid £20,324 per year, which equates to £3,127 for 8 weeks.
Due to the ongoing COVID pandemic, all employees are working from home. SDS will provide the necessary kit to ensure you are able to work effectively.
Our working week is 9AM to 5PM Monday to Friday, however, we will consider flexible working patterns from 17.5 hours to 35 hours per week. Your salary will be reduced pro-rata if you work less than 35 hours per week.
About Our Summer Internship Programme
This programme offers a fantastic opportunity for you to gain relevant experience in a working environment and apply and build on the knowledge & skills you have gained at university.
From your first day, you will be an integral part of the team you join. Supported by your mentor and line manager, you’ll have a clearly defined role and responsibilities. You’ll receive on the job training, and complete learning to enhance your knowledge and skills.
You’ll participate in a personal development programme designed to enhance the soft skills required to succeed in the world of work. You’ll attend a series of workshops including communication skills, managing yourself, and employability. You’ll also have the opportunity to meet with other employees on the young talent programme and meet with a Careers Adviser to discuss your future career aspirations.
This programme offers you first-hand experience of SDS as a supportive employer and successful candidates will be offered a guaranteed interview for our graduate internship programme in 2022.
