Tina’s Story

Through my university career I had the pleasure of doing my fourth-year placement within Who Cares? Scotland. Obviously once I become part of this amazing organisation I couldn’t leave and joined their fantastic team of volunteers. Being a volunteer here has allowed me to grow both professionally and personally through all their amazing influencing work and training sessions.

As a volunteer I have been able to take part in amazing groups as well as events. Being a volunteer offers you the opportunity to get to know amazing Care Experienced children and young people but also allows you to have fun. As a volunteer I have also been able to take part in training sessions such as listen and learn and children’s panel training. Each opportunity has allowed me to network with other professionals and integrate with other organisations which has been essential in my professional life.

I am so proud to be part of the organisation as I have been able to meet some of the most amazing children and young people who inspire me every day! Without volunteering with Who Cares? Scotland I would have never have had the opportunity to find a job straight out of university and have the opportunity to work with Care Experienced children and young people.

Volunteering has meant the world to me and I can’t thank them enough for inviting me into their family! I have been able to overcome many professional and personal challenges with my Who Cares? family BY MY SIDE. Volunteering has allowed me to give something back to the Care Experienced children and young people.

Volunteering at Who Cares? Scotland is more than just an addition to your CV. I would highly recommend everyone to volunteer and come and join our family!

With thanks to Scottish Local Authorities, funding partners and donors who make our work possible.
