If you are motivated to create a society where children, young people and adults who have experienced Scotland’s care system feel included, championed, understood, active, equal, loved and most importantly that their voice matters then we want to hear from you.

Who Cares? Scotland is Scotland’s only national independent, representative organisation for care experienced people. We represent care experienced people through independent advocacy (up to 26 years of age); membership and influencing programmes. Our vision is for care experienced people to feel equal to their non-care-experienced peers.   A crucial part of our representative role comes from the voices of our Membership as well as the experiences of those we support through advocacy.

With the First Minister recently committing to listening to 1000 care experienced voices in the next two-years, as well as commissioning the independent root and branch review of care in Scotland – it is vital that care experienced voices and experiences are amplified further and more regularly across Scotland. We are therefore recruiting for a range of roles at this very important and exciting time in Scotland across a variety of exciting programmes.

The Representatives Development Officer will empower care experienced volunteer representatives involved with the Review Council. The post holder will need to be an effective co-ordinator of a range of ideas, plans and development which invest in care experienced representatives sitting on the councils. They should be committed to the active participation of young people from marginalized groups: have strong expertise in youth work skills and be able to demonstrate youth work values. They will also be skilled in working with individuals and groups and committed to doing all that it takes to give care experienced representatives the best possible chance to succeed in their roles.

The closing date for all the posts is 4pm on Friday 2nd June. Interviews will be held on 22 June 2017.
