Who Cares? Scotland are the UK Charity of the Year 2018 and our fundraising team is entering an exciting period of growth and development to help us grow our membership and influencing work and support us to achieve our vision.
We have a unique opportunity for a skilled and creative fundraiser with a strong track record in securing income from trusts, foundations and major grant-making organisations such as The Big Lottery. The key responsibilities of this role include strategic oversight of our approach to securing grant, foundation and trust funding, achieving a target in excess of £300k in new income for 2019-2020 and developing a stream of multi-year grants to ensure project and development sustainability. You will also be responsible for developing strong working relationships with potential funders and managing each delegated grant application from submission to decision, ensuring a high quality of report.
Ideally you be qualified to degree level in a relevant discipline or have equivalent relevant work experience. You will have experience in strategic fundraising and securing significant annual income via successful funding bids, along with excellent project management skills and communication skills. Knowledge of the care system in Scotland, and issues affecting young people who are looked after away from home is desirable.
More importantly however you will be committed to helping us achieve our vision, and will have strong persuasive and negotiating skills, adaptability for the non-profit sector, and resilience and motivation to overcome initial challenges to proposals.
