Employment Officer

Based in the National Office, Glasgow

35 hours per week

£21,216 – £24,787 per annum

This role will support the ‘Reaching Higher’ Employment Programme to make a transformational difference to care experienced young people’s lives. Reaching Higher Traineeships provide paid employment in a safe environment for care experienced young people to build on their skills and abilities, developing the resilience and experience to move onto permanent employment or further education.

The programme is led by the Employment Coordinator who will supported by the Employment Officers to recruit, plan and oversee traineeships. The postholder will support several Trainee staff members in all aspects of their employment, including transition planning, to progress successfully into a positive destination following the end of their traineeship. They will also support Trainees to address and resolve external issues, e.g. housing, finances, etc., which may impact on their ability to succeed in their employment.

The right candidate will have an HNC level qualification, or equivalent work experience, in a relevant discipline or work area., for example social care or education with a focus on employability. Experience of working with vulnerable groups of young people, working in partnership with employability stakeholders and implementing positive interventions to remove barriers to employment is also essential.
