£21,858 – £28,230 per annum

The Development Officer post in Aberdeen is central to the engagement of care experienced children and young people of all ages and requires excellent youth work skills and knowledge to maximise meaningful participation. The successful candidate will be able to show that they have experience of building trusting and compassionate relationships with young people and be committed to helping young people amplify their own voices so that they can be heard by their Corporate Parents who can influence change. This post will build on the work that has already been established and focus on meeting the outcomes of a shared Action Plan. They will need to be confident in working in partnership with a variety of Corporate Parents at all levels and have an approach which is both inclusive and steadfast.

The post holder will be passionate about helping young people create change, able to work at evenings and some weekends, be able to work within an autonomous environment and keep up to date with the current national environment regarding care experience. They will also need a positive, solution focussed attitude and adaptable to change.

The right candidate will have a relevant qualification, to a minimum standard of HNC/SVQ 3 (SCQF level 7) in a discipline related to working with children & young people, or equivalent work experience. The post holder will need to utilise youth work and/or community engagement skills to undertake the role. A current full driving licence is also essential.
