SpeakOut Paid Writing Opportunity
1 June
Mental Health Awareness Week takes place between the 15th and 21st of May. This year’s theme chosen by The Mental Health Foundation is anxiety.
“We all feel anxious from time to time. Anxiety is a natural response to the uncertain world around us. For example, in the current cost-of-living crisis, more than a third of adults feel anxious about their financial situation. But it’s important that we recognise and respond when we feel anxious, so that our anxiety doesn’t become overwhelming.”
– The Mental Health Foundation
We are offering a paid writing opportunity for a Care Experienced person who feels passionate and comfortable discussing mental health and well-being. You could be paid £70 to write a piece for our membership magazine, SpeakOut which is sent out quarterly to around 2500 Care Experienced young people and adults. The piece can either be 400-500 words for a 1-page entry or 800-1000 words for a double page. You can choose what you would like to write about. It could be a personal piece about your experiences, or if you enjoy creative writing you could submit a short story or a poem. It’s completely up to you.
If your piece is chosen, we will send you a copy of the magazine in the post and it will also be available to read online.
You don’t need to be a Who Cares? Scotland member to enter but we’d love if you wanted to join – find out more here.
