Project Manager: Creating Communities That Care
Scotland wide
Permanent
35 hours per week, flexible working available
Salary £34,486 – £40,571 per annum
Who Cares? Scotland is Scotland’s only national independent membership organisation for Care Experienced people. Our strategic vision is to secure a lifetime of equality, respect, and love for Care Experienced people in Scotland.
At the heart of Who Cares? Scotland’s work are the rights of Care Experienced people and the power of their voices to bring about change. We provide individual relationship based independent advocacy and a range of connection and participation opportunities for Care Experienced people across Scotland. We work alongside Corporate Parents and others to broaden their understanding of care and challenge stigma experienced by Care Experienced people. We create opportunities for people with lived experience of care to influence policy makers, leaders, and elected representatives locally and nationally to shape legislation, policy, and practice. We do this collaboratively to build on the aspirations of The Promise and secure positive change.
This opportunity represents a new role within the organisation, designed to uphold our renewed commitment to tackle stigma and discrimination experienced by Care Experienced people. The Project Manager will oversee the development and implementation of strategies to change attitudes to Care Experienced people through an evidence-based approach to public education and community engagement activity. Leading cross-directorate project teams to deliver on key initiatives and securing contracted work in partnership with the private and charity sectors, the role will incorporate income-generation, as well as the delivery of a training programme with a private sector business.
As Project Manager, you will have a key role in engaging private sector businesses and public sector bodies with a consultancy offer, to help them become ‘care aware’ organisations and employers. Designing and developing a training and accreditation programme, the first of its kind in Scotland, you will also help to lead the scaling of our unique whole school approach. Our Communities that Care school work helps to create care aware learning environments where all pupils can thrive, and dedicated community engagement sessions across the nation. In this role, you will work with the Director of Fundraising & Communications to oversee the identification, development, and implementation of projects which help to support our public education ambitions.
As well as creating, promoting, and delivering training programmes which lead to tangible behavioural and cultural change within target organisations, this role will also see you promote understanding and inclusivity of Care Experienced people within organisations, including WC?S. Within the Project Manager role, you will head a project team to ensure that WC?S’ own internal workforce development activity includes targeted sessions on understanding care experience, in collaboration with the HR Manager. As the ‘face of’ Who Cares? Scotland’s public education activity, both internally and externally, you will promote a culture of excellence when communicating about care experience.
Whilst identifying funding and commission opportunities, evaluating and reporting learning and the impact of public education activity, and managing delegated budget responsibilities, you will strive to uphold the ethos of Who Cares? Your proactive, ‘can-do’ attitude, ability to motivate others, and to work under pressure, will help your team to reach its aims. With experience working at supervisory level, with senior corporate representatives, and as a team leader, you have a background in developing and implementing teaching plans, as well as measuring impact and reporting to funders.
Resilient, and capable of being sensitive to the needs of Care Experienced people, volunteers, and funders, you are seeking a role in which you can uphold child and human rights, help to implement The Promise, and work to empower people to make transformative change in their communities.
If this sounds like you, and you want to be part of delivering change for Care Experienced people across Scotland, we’d love to hear from you. For an informal conversation about this opportunity please contact Marie-Claire Jones at mcjones@whocaresscotland.org.
We particularly welcome applications from people with experience of care who meet the criteria for the post.
Closing date for applications is Sunday 2nd July 2023.
Interviews will be held on Thursday 20th and Friday 21st July.
