Are you Care Experienced and want to make a difference to the Care Experienced Community in East Lothian and beyond? Are you looking for an exciting developmental opportunity to work alongside East Lothian’s Champions Board whilst being supported to gain an SVQ qualification? Then this could be the role for you!
Who Cares? Scotland is Scotland’s only national independent membership organisation for Care Experienced people. Our mission is to secure a lifetime of equality, respect, and love for Care Experienced people in Scotland and we are looking to recruit a Participation Assistant in East Lothian.
This role provides the opportunity to help empower Care Experienced people within the work of the East Lothian area and Champions Board, whilst also developing your own skills as a Participation Assistant and being supported to gain an SVQ qualification.
The Participation Assistant will help to enable children and young people with care experience to feel empowered, championed and supported to explore their views and voice, and raise them within the work of the Champions Board, so that real change can happen to improve the lives and opportunities of care experienced children and young people.
The successful candidate will join our friendly East Lothian team and will be supported to develop their confidence as a Participation Assistant. The post holder will be involved in a range of external facing work and activities which will include campaigning, training, awareness raising, partnership development and lobbying work, using a range of existing and yet to be developed activities and methods.
The right candidate will be someone who is open to new ideas, who has good communication and group working skills, and is excited to build important relationships within the community. The post holder will be trustworthy, reliable, and confident organising a range of activities to promote and support all aspects of the work of the team and the Champions Board in East Lothian.
The successful candidate will also have a good understanding of The Promise and the issues that affect Care Experienced people, whilst being passionate about empowering young people to have their voice heard and to drive change.
If this sounds like you and would like to have an informal conversation about this opportunity, please contact Jordan Croan at jcroan@whocaresscotland.org.
To be eligible for this role you must be Care Experienced.

Closing date for applications is Thursday 22nd June.
Interviews will be held in person on Thursday 29th June.
