Who Cares? Scotland is Scotland’s only national independent membership organisation for Care Experienced people. Our mission is to secure a lifetime of equality, respect, and love for Care Experienced people in Scotland and we currently have over 3500 Care Experienced members.
At the heart of Who Cares? Scotland’s work are the rights of Care Experienced people, and the power of their voices to bring about positive change. We provide individual lifelong relationship-based independent advocacy and a broad range of imaginative participatory and engagement opportunities for Care Experienced people across Scotland. We work alongside Corporate Parents and communities to broaden understanding. We work with policy makers, leaders, and elected representatives locally and nationally to shape law, policy, and practice, working together to build on the aspirations of The Promise and secure positive change.
The Finance Manager is a key position within Who Cares? Scotland and will work closely with the Senior Management Team to ensure effective financial management of the organisation. Responsible for the preparation of monthly management accounts, journals, and forecasts, as well as year-end accounting process, the Finance Manager will also assist the Director of Finance with preparation of the annual budget.
Contributing to internal control procedures, you will regularly review financial policies and ensure that WC?S maintains a robust financial management framework. In addition, the Finance Manager will ensure that all financial records meet auditing, legal and tax requirements, implementing new systems or upgrades to systems where necessary.
The right candidate will be experienced in providing Senior Management and budget holders with timely and accurate financial information, as well as preparing reports, appraisals, and budget proposals for funding bids or new projects. You will have strong working knowledge of payroll process and maintaining asset registers, and you are confident reviewing reconciliation processes and undertaking adjustments.
With proven skill in closely and accurately monitoring funds, the Finance Manager will help to ensure that Who Cares? Scotland has sufficient funds to profitably operate, invest and grow. As a leader, you will supervise Finance staff to ensure the accuracy and quality of delegated duties, e.g., raising of sales invoices, payment of suppliers, collation and transfer of payroll information, and processing of expense, mileage, and credit card claims. You will also provide finance training support to budget holders to enable them to take responsibility for their own budgets, as well as maintain the organisation’s relationship with the Bank, external auditors, and the Finance and HR Committee team. The right candidate will therefore be capable of forming positive relationships with people of all ages and backgrounds, will have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal, and be adaptable to a wide range of contexts.
With a passion for the aims and values of Who Cares? Scotland, you will have a proven record of working collaboratively with partners successfully and will be committed to children’s rights, inclusive working, and equal opportunities. You believe that all people can make transformative change happen in their lives if given the opportunity.
