Education and Engagement Officer
National Office, Glasgow with flexible homeworking
35 hours per week
12 months contract
Salary £23,674 – £29,592 per annum
You do not need to be Care Experienced for this role, but as always we are interested to hear from applicants with care experience.
Who Cares? Scotland is Scotland’s only national independent membership organisation for Care Experienced people. Our mission is to secure a lifetime of equality, respect, and love for Care Experienced people in Scotland and we currently have over 3,500 Care Experienced members.
At the heart of Who Cares? Scotland’s work are the rights of Care Experienced people, and the power of their voices to bring about positive change. We provide individual lifelong relationship-based independent advocacy and a broad range of participatory and engagement opportunities for Care Experienced people across Scotland. We work alongside Corporate Parents and communities to broaden understanding and create change. We work with policy makers, leaders, and elected representatives locally and nationally to shape law, policy and practice, working together to build on the aspirations of The Promise and secure positive change for Care Experienced people.
The Education and Engagement Officer will work as part of the Education and Engagement Team at Who Cares? Scotland, reporting to the Education and Engagement Manager. The post holder’s main responsibilities will be to develop positive relationships with Corporate Parents; to design and deliver education and learning projects and activities for Corporate Parents and relevant stakeholders that will help drive positive lasting change for Care Experienced people in Scotland.
You will be joining the Education and Engagement Team at an exciting time, sitting within a wider Engagement and Influence Directorate. You will collaborate with colleagues to support the influencing of policy makers, leaders, and elected representatives locally and nationally. You will utilise Each and Every Child framing to play a key role in our anti-stigma approach for Care Experienced people.
The right candidate will be a highly effective communicator, facilitator and presenter and have a keen interest and skill in communicating complex policy landscapes to a wide audience in engaging ways. Knowledge and experience of delivering learning programmes is essential, as is the ability to present to senior professionals across the public, private and third sector. The location of the postholder is flexible, however they will be expected to travel across Scotland, with a focus on the central belt, to fulfil their remit. Occasional evening and weekend work, including overnight stays, is a requirement of the role.
While we would welcome the knowledge gathered through qualifications we are just as interested in relevant work experience. We welcome and encourage applications from those with experience of care.
If this sounds like the role for you, we would love to hear from you. For an informal conversation about this opportunity please contact Chloe Dobson, our Education and Engagement Manager, at cdobson@whocaresscotland.org.
Closing date for applications is Sunday 2nd July.
Interviews will be held in person on Monday 10th and/or Tuesday 11th July.
