Education and Engagement Manager (Mat Cover)
National Office, Glasgow with flexible homeworking
35 hours per week
9 – 12 months contract
Salary £34,486 – £40,571 per annum
You do not need to be Care Experienced for this role, but as always we are interested to hear from applicants with care experience.
Who Cares? Scotland is Scotland’s only national independent membership organisation for Care Experienced people. Our strategic vision is to secure a lifetime of equality, respect, and love for Care Experienced people in Scotland. At the heart of Who Cares? Scotland’s work are the rights of Care Experienced people and the power of their voices to bring about change. We provide individual relationship based independent advocacy and a range of connection and participation opportunities for Care Experienced people across Scotland. We work alongside Corporate Parents and others to broaden their understanding of care and challenge stigma experienced by Care Experienced people. We create opportunities for people with lived experience of care to influence policy makers, leaders, and elected representatives locally and nationally to shape legislation, policy, and practice. We do this collaboratively to build on the aspirations of The Promise and secure positive change.
As part of the Engagement and Influencing Directorate, the Education and Engagement Manager will ensure Corporate Parents and relevant stakeholders have access to education and learning support and resources to enable them to make meaningful change for Care Experienced people. You will lead the team to coordinate, develop, quality assure, and deliver WC?S education and engagement activity at a local, regional, and national level. This will include crafting education and learning programmes, conference inputs and advising and consulting on policy developments affecting Care Experienced people. Regular monitoring and evaluation and communication of the team’s impact is required, as is the development and sustainment of a positive working relationship with the Scottish Government, relevant Ministers of the Scottish Parliament, and funders. Working alongside Scottish Government colleagues to develop and deliver on grant outcomes, you will represent Care Experienced people’s voices and views in all activities and projects. Taking charge of reporting, compliance, and budgeting, your role will see you oversee all relationships with Corporate Parents, funders, civil servants, or local elected members on behalf of the team.
To ensure that Who Cares? Scotland continues to be recognized as leading the way in the development of local and national Corporate Parenting cultures in Scotland, you will be a confident leader, possessing the skills to collaborate and communicate effectively. You hold experience of working at management level in an organisation in the third or voluntary sector, of implementing operational plans, and of successfully managing and securing partnerships, grants, and complex projects. Capable of developing best practice through training opportunities, and working with an inter-agency, inter-disciplinary focus, you can work with varied layers within the public sector, including at senior management level. Whilst influencing and delivering on key strategic goals, you can utilise your strong knowledge and understanding of developing and delivering learning programmes, imbuing your work consistently with the principles of social justice, equality, and inclusion.
If this sounds like you, and you want to be part of delivering change for Care Experienced people across Scotland, we’d love to hear from you. For an informal conversation about this opportunity please contact Kenny Murray at kmurray@whocaresscotland.org.
Closing date for applications is Sunday 2nd July.
Interviews will be held on Monday 24th and Friday 28th July.
