Fiona McIntyre, Executive Officer for Scottish Women’s Football, said,

“We are delighted to be launching this fantastic partnership with Who Cares? Scotland. They do amazing work and we can’t wait to promote that further to our various members and supporters.”

Duncan Dunlop, CEO of Who Cares? Scotland added,

“Care Day is the world’s biggest celebration of children and young people with care experience. We are excited to be kicking off our partnership with Scottish Women’s Football on a day with so much meaning to the community of care experienced people across Scotland.

“Football has always brought communities together – not only on the terraces. It has been a leading light in changing minds and creating discussion for the better. From racism to gender equality and LGBT rights, football has had an influence and has helped set the scene for change.

“It is uplifting to see a partnership for Care Day and a backing of care experienced people join those other campaigns for social change. Football is a community, one which millions of women across Scotland are a part of. We are delighted to be joining it.”

Kareen Stewart, a Care Experienced Development Assistant with Who Cares? Scotland said,

“I’ve always enjoyed football and I’ve been part of the football community but I’m also a proud part of the Care Experienced community. To be here to see Scottish Women’s Football not only celebrating Care Experienced women but making a commitment to support Care Experienced people makes me happy.

I hope that this commitment helps the football community understand why they should put their backing behind Scotland’s Care Experienced population.”

Scottish Women’s Football will also be encouraging its members to take part in the Kiltwalk to raise money for Who Cares? Scotland. Fiona said:

“The Kiltwalk is a great day with four events across Scotland”

“We will be actively encouraging our members to take part in these events and to raise money for Who Cares? Scotland”
