Monday 22 October

Identity: Writing Retreat

From 17.00 on Monday to 10.00 on Thursday 25 October – Moniack Mhor Creative Writing Centre, Teavarran, Kiltarlity by Beauly IV4 7HT

This is a residential course, based at Moniack Mhor Writing Centre for people, aged 18 – 26 who are care experienced or care leavers. It’s your chance to work with two amazing tutors, both well regarded, successful writers who will pass on their skills, tips and techniques to help you develop your creativity and shape whatever story you want to tell. Rebel Fox and Moniack Mhor staff will also be on hand to support the course.

Awards ceremony hosted by the city awarding care experienced young people and corporate parents for the work achieved by the champions board.

Lifetime of Love Rally

Join us as we march through Glasgow to demonstrate our commitment to a lifetime of equality, respect and love for all Care Experienced people. We will follow a route through the centre of the city and gather at an iconic location where there will be inspirational words, songs and speeches. All Care Experienced people and allies of the movement are welcome – please join us and show your love for Care Experienced people.

  • We are currently working with the relevant authorities to confirm our route and details will be announced closer to the time. For now, please register your interest to attend for the rally here.

Saturday 27 October

Global Care Family Gathering

10.00 to 16.00 – Greenwood Conference Centre, Greenwood Gate, Dreghorn, Irvine, KA11 4GZ

The first of its kind, this conference will be curated and delivered entirely by Care Experienced people and will set out a global ambition for change beyond borders. A series of inspirational speakers from across the globe will share insights on their experiences of care, and Care Experienced people from across the world will be supported to connect over their shared identities.

  • The event is free of charge to Care Experienced people but as we are expecting this event to be fully subscribed any Care Experienced person who would like to attend needs to fill in this form by Sunday 30 September. We aim to let you know if you’ve been successful in getting a place by mid-October.
  • There are a limited number of tickets available for purchase by non-Care Experienced people who want to show their support for the Movement and join this historic occasion. These tickets can be ordered through Eventbrite.

Who Cares? Scotland AGM

12.00 to 13.00 – Greenwood Conference Centre, Greenwood Gate, Dreghorn, Irvine, KA11 4GZ
A chance for our members to choose our board members and vote on decisions that impact on the governance of Who Cares? Scotland.

  • This event will be a lunchtime session at the Global Care Family Gathering. If you’re not attending the whole Family Gathering but would like to attend the AGM, please email This event is only open to Who Cares? Scotland members.

Time to Shine Festival

12.00 to 16.00 – SWG3, 100 Eastvale Pl, Glasgow, G3 8QG

Time to Shine is our annual party for Care Experienced people. This year’s theme is Music Festival and there will be live bands, a DJ, music workshops, festival make up, arts and crafts, inflatables, tasty treats and so much more.

  • Registration for this free event is essential and is now open at Eventbrite until Sunday 14 October.
  • All holders of Under 18s Care Experienced Tickets must also fill in and return our Time to Shine 2018 Consent Form to by Friday 19 October.

Monday 29 October

Moray Corporate Parenting Conference, Champions Board and Time to Shine event

14.15 to 18.15 – Moray College UHI, Moray Street, Elgin, IV30 1JJ

This gathering will bring together three important events for one extraordinary day of learning, goal-setting and celebration. Aimed at care experienced young people, corporate parents and carers, we will be highlighting the crucial role of corporate parents, the work and aims of the Champions Board and the achievements of our amazing young people in Moray!

Tuesday 30 October

Ayrshire College Care Experienced Celebration Event

17.30 to 19.30 – Kilmarnock Campus, Hill Street, Kilmarnock, KA1 3HY
You are invited to come along and help us celebrate the achievements of our care experienced young people. There’s lots on offer including: Course information, taster sessions, competitions, information about support. You’ll have the chance to meet Inclusive Learning, Student Services and the Student Association. There will also be a DJ and light buffet.
