We all have responsibilities in life and
young people aren’t any different.
We’re not just born with responsibilities though, as you
grow up you learn to become a more responsible person by
being around positive people and positive adult role models.
You will become a more responsible person the older you get
because you will learn about being safe, keeping others
safe, being happy, doing ok at school, learning from any
mistakes you make, talking to adults about any worries you
have, listening and taking good advice from others in your
life.
These things will help you to grow up and take
responsibility for your own life and help you to make the
right decisions in your life.
Here’s an example of the local authorities responsibilities
while you’re looked after but it also shows your
responsibilities to yourself, other young people and staff
around you.
Some of Your Responsibilities
Keep yourself and your things safe wherever you live
Try to keep other young people around you safe
Keep your room tidy
Take responsibility for your own education by making
sure you go and take part
Keep the place you live nice for you and other young
people
Try not to getting involved in anything illegal or
things that will get you into trouble
Try to have friends that are good for you and that
won’t get you into trouble
Spend your pocket money on things that are
appropriate to your age and won’t get you into trouble
Local Authority Responsibilities
