First Minister's Christmas
Card gifted to Who Cares? Scotland
- Gala concert planned on 5th November 2008 at the
Kelvingrove Art Gallery & Museum in Glasgow
Success is on
the Cards for Who Cares? Scotland
On the 11th
Dec 2007 First Minister, Alex Salmond unveiled his official
Christmas Card. At a reception hosted at the First
Minister’s official residence, Bute House in Edinburgh, he
congratulated noted artist, John Lowrie Morrison (JoLoMo)
on his painting of Linlithgow Palace, specially commissioned
for the Christmas Card. In attendance at this event were
Heather Gray, Who Cares? Scotland Director, and board
members Will, David and Jordan.
JoLoMo donated
the painting to charity and Alex Salmond has very generously
presented the painting to Who Cares? Scotland to auction it
at a gala concert on 5th November 2008
at the Kelvingrove Art Gallery & Museum in Glasgow.
First
Minister Alex Salmond said:
“ I want everyone
in Scotland to share our strength of ambition and to have
equal opportunities to achieve
their goals. The voluntary organisation,
Who Cares? Scotland,
takes us a step closer to giving everyone that chance, by
working to improve the standard of life for young people who
are lookedafter and accommodated.
I am delighted to support their efforts by auctioning this
Christmas painting of Linlithgow Palace reflected in the
loch,
with proceed helping to fund their work”.

Gray said:
“We are delighted
to receive this painting by John Lowrie Morrison. Who Cares?
Scotland is celebrating its 30th anniversary in 2008 and we
will be using the funds raised by the auction of the
painting to continue to fund our work. Our theme for our
anniversary is Challenging Stigma-
Celebrating Success’.We
hope to raise the profile of young people in care and ensure
that their voices are heard during this important year for
us”.
The
painting will be auctioned at a Gala concert on 5th November
2008 . This will be a
spectacular event with a James Bond theme. A
professional auctioneer will assist in the auctioning of the
painting and other fabulous money can't buy prizes. The
money raised will go to support the ongoing work of Who
Cares? Scotland.
